Fiber Innovation
At WayPoint Forward, we’re rethinking textile waste by breaking down discarded fabrics into reusable fibers. Our proprietary fiber shredding technology processes materials like cotton, denim, polyester, rayon, wool and, silk—returning them to a fiber state ready for reuse. The result is a sustainable foundation for new textiles, helping reduce waste and advance a circular economy.
Breaking Down Fabrics for a Circular Future
Every fabric tells a story. Our process reduces old textiles to their base fibers, preserving their value and preparing them for a new life in fashion, furnishings and beyond.
Fabric Intake
We work with a wide range of pre- and post-consumer textiles—from vintage garments to industrial waste—ensuring usable fibers aren’t needlessly discarded.
Revolutionary Fiber Shredding
At the heart of our process is WayPoint Forward’s Fiber Shredder technology, developed by cofounders University of Minnesota Duluth Associate Professor Abigail Clarke-Sather and mechanical engineering master of science graduate Paulo Alves. This specialized system breaks down cotton, denim, polyester, rayon, wool, and silk in seconds mechanically—without harsh chemicals—turning them into clean, spinnable fibers.
Creating New Potential
Once shredded, the fibers can be reintroduced into manufacturing streams, spun into new yarns, or blended with other fibers—ready to become part of sustainable, next-generation textiles. Individuals interested in obtaining beautiful yarns made from a mixture of their shredded materials and select alpaca fiber can work with our affiliated brand, WayForward Fibers.
Before & After Gallery

The textile industry generates over 92 million tons of waste each year, making it one of the world’s largest polluters. WayPoint Forward addresses this challenge by breaking down discarded fabrics and post-consumer apparel into fibers that can be reused and reimagined.
Our approach extends the lifespan of textiles, keeps valuable resources in circulation, and supports the slow fashion and sustainable manufacturing movements. By working with regional partners, we’re building the future circular economy where textiles are endlessly renewable and nothing is wasted.
We’re not just shredding fabrics—we’re unlocking possibilities. One fiber at a time.
